Cow Patty

These are my closest neighbors; a group of Angus cattle who live across the road from us. A storm was trying to blow our way as I crossed the ditch and looked over the barbed wire, though it never quite materialized. The cattle, used to these spring tirades, lumbered slowly towards me. I'm sure they expected hay and feed instead of a lens pointed at them.

Some were gentle-faced, their eyes knowing and patient while others, like the big black bull, glared with defiance: daring me to come closer...yet warning me not to.

It's funny that even though cattle are as commonplace as dandelions, I still find delight in capturing these images. There is fun to be found in the shot; the story we tell in the frame that we take.

I think my favorite of the day was the "kissing cow". She really did look like she was sharing a tender moment with the bull. But then, what is it they say? "Spring is a time when a young man's fancy turns lightly to thoughts of love...!"

I love the black and white one... the bull, not so much. Yes, it seems that all the birds and geese are pairing up, instead of walking around in large herds... (I know they are in flocks but here the Canadian geese are so numerous all year round its like a herd when they cross the street)....

We have a retarded female bluebird and her flighty mate acting bonkers here. I am waiting to see what the final result will be before posting.

I hope you have a blessed Easter and miss these terrible storms blasting through!

Cute post Lori.
It does look like the cattle were expecting you to feed them.

Lovely Sky Watch photographs on your pervious post. The storm gave you such dramatic skies.

Spring is a little slow in comming here this year with temps running below average and few flowers blooming as of yet. We had a light snow Wed. morning but it was gone soon after the sun came out.

Hoping you and yours a blessed Easter.

In my memory, spring was the time when the black angus bulls knocked a wall of the barn down fighting over the cows.

Ahhh, sweet romance. :)
