Sky Watch - Stormy March

Two nights ago we had a big storm pass overhead. The worst of it skirted to our NE, though a rotating cloud passed just outside our backyard.

These were taken in the aftermath, looking to the east where the angry wrath looked beautiful from a distance.

As always the sunshine returns with the promise of clear skies on tomorrow's horizon...

It IS beautiful. It's hard to imagine sometimes the fury that can be packed into such soft-looking beauty!

In Oklahoma, the rotating clouds were the most frightening when they were associated with a strangely green color to the clouds. Usually the sirens were going off at this point.

Nyssa told me that the tornados in Oklahoma and Texas and in other parts of the midwest are different than those in the deep south. She said the ones in Mississippi were "wet" or associated with fronts having so much rain with them that you can't see the tornado until it is right on you. In Oklahoma, it is often the tornado first and then the rain.

Glad you were safe... I hope you aren't having any of this flooding in your area.

Lori: What a neat look at a full cloud sky. It is certainly very powerful.
