Go Fly A Kite

My son and his friend are out flying a kite. They have taken a small piece of colorful plastic and turned it into something beautiful, setting it assail on a sea of air. It swoops and soars, dipping low on the horizon then suddenly zooms skyward, blending with the clouds as if part of its natural canvas.

It's amazing how something so simple can be so beautiful. And how giving wing and flight to such simplicity can make one's heart sing.

Put away your wallet; step back from the television; the laundry and dishes will surely wait. Set course, get your ticket, climb aboard, set sail. Go fly a kite.

Hey Lori -
No explanations necessary!!!!! ;)
I've been finding it difficult to find the time to comment on blogs - let alone write posts. I totally can relate. But I assure you, I'm lurking! :)

Part of the reason for me is my PC needs to be trashed - and until I get a new one, I have to reload each page like 20 times before I can comment. Some sort of java issue it seems! But know I'm thinking of you....

Your blog, as well as Cheryls - are by far my favorites!!! You two always leave me in awe with the beautiful way you state even the simplest of things. :)

Hugs!!

My 11 year old granddaughter is here this weekend and I would love to go fly a kite with her but Mother Nature has sent a diamond blanket to cover the ground again so we must wait for more spring-like weather. By that time she will be back home already!! LOL....maybe next weekend.

Take care and Hugs to you!!

Reminds me of one of my favorite songs from "Mary Poppins", Let's Go Fly A Kite. Love it.

You're so right. Some times it's the simple things of life that bring us the most joy if we'll just take the time to notice them, participate in them, etc.

I still remember the first time I flew a kite with my dad...the kite wasn't the only thing soaring that day. Sometimes happiness really is simple.

I checked out your blog from one of your comments on CWO. What a beautiful bundle of thoughts! I'll enjoy checking back if you don't mind. I may even want to link you for convenience sake -- would you mind that?
