Someday

On a quiet, out-of-the-way corner sits a quaint little cafe. The sidewalks are dotted with small tables covered in lovely white linen, and a single red rose awaits a menu for two. Fragrant flowers spill from second-story window boxes and cascade in hues of gold and pumpkin over ceramic pots. It is a beautiful autumn evening and twilight beckons as lamp posts begin to flicker, stretching long shadows across the cobblestone streets. My bicycle leans against the doorframe, the perfect accent for this cozy evening respite. A fluffy white puppy peers out the window, awaiting his master's return with great love and anticipation. The smell of warm bread and delicious, heavenly pastries seeps into every nook, and soft music floats around the corner in utter enchantment.

Someone once called me a "Hopeful Romantic"...and I guess I am. This painting, a gift from my husband, hangs in our living room. But that moment, on a street-side cafe, hangs in my heart. I am where I am supposed to be at this point in my life, but somewhere on a quiet, out-of-the-way corner, my future awaits.

What a lovely painting. Isn't it wonderful to dream of that day when we will be in a far away place, one just like in your painting? Gives us something to look forward to.

Have a great Monday!

I used to be a romantic too, but things happen, people change, life goes on and beacomes busy!

You have painted a very beautiful picture with your words to match the lovely painting hanging on your wall. Thank you!

I love the romantic paintings. I have one from a local artist in Oklahoma that shows a small pond with overhanging weeping willow and a small row boat tied to the dock. Flowers bloom around the shoreline and I can imagine myself with a glass of sweet ice tea and a book sitting in that boat, reading and gently rocking back and forth in the warm summer afternoon. But then, in Oklahoma it would be 110 degrees in the shade and really not great for this activity. Oh, how much better our imaginations are than reality at times. God knew that the constant dose of reality would wear us out, so He gave us imagination. Are we not blessed?

Yes we are blessed!

Surfing around, I came upon your site quite by accident. Peruses through a few of your posts. You are a lovely person with beautiful photos and the sharing of your heart to accompany them and I will be sure to come back again. I love the way you write and express yourself. Very much the way I would -- and do. It's like a finding a wonderful, warm, welcome, FAMILIAR reprieve. :)

You took me there with you, Lori. Say, is that you across the cobbled road there? With the white silk blouse and the lacy shawl? Yoohoo! (waving) Let's get some gelato, and chase away the chills with a cappucino!

cindy - thanks! And a great rest of Monday to you, too!

martie - life does become so busy, and I've missed being that romantic person. But she's still there, somewhere. You're always so kind. Bless you!

pete - you, cynical? naw....I see a real tender heart underneath it all but shhhhh...I won't tell a soul. And a table in Europe sounds perfect to me. It's a date.

srp - now, it's not often 110 in the shade in OK, as I'm her northern neighbor! Imagination is a gift, but then there are moments in the real world that are simply breath-taking.

anonymous - wow...this is my first comment from someone who is unnamed. Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad I struck a chord with you and hope you return often.

clew - of course it's me! Fancy meeting you here, girl! And cappucino....how well you know me. Have a seat. I have so much to tell you...

I love the term "hopeful romantic" rather than "hopeless".

Once again, friend, nicely done.
